The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim were able to pull out a win after 11 innings, against the Baltimore Orioles. The game ended 5-4.
Kole Calhoun kicked things off for the Angels. Jered Weaver also stepped back into the game tonight after being out for seven weeks. He allowed two runs and four hits over five innings, and also struck out seven and walked none.
Orioles pitcher, Miguel Gonzalez, gave up four runs and seven hits throughout 4 2/3 innings. He struck out five.
Fox Sports writes the following on the game:
“Lefty Brian Matusz came in to face Kole Calhoun and slipped a called third strike past him, but Murphy drove a 3-2 pitch over the head of left fielder David Lough to end it after manager Buck Showalter ordered intentional walks to Mike Trout and Albert Pujols.
Johnny Giavotella led off the third with a double to right field that Parra just missed on a diving attempt. Gonzalez struck out Trout and Pujols with runners at the corners, but Murphy drove an 0-2 pitch just over the yellow line above the 18-foot wall in right field for a 4-2 lead.”
The Angels will take on Chris Sale and the Chicago White Sox tomorrow at 5:10 p.m.
