RECAP: Angels Shut Out Red Sox, 3-0.
- Updated: July 19, 2015
The Los Angeles Angels continued there winning ways, with a 3-0 shut out of the Boston Red Sox.
Garrett Richards,(10-6), was very calm, cool and collected as he helped the Angels cruise to another win. Richards went the distance, for his first complete game shutout of the season. He only needed 113 pitches, striking out six and only allowing two hits.
Cole Calhoun’s bat did the most damage to the Boston pitching staff, with two solo shot home runs, the first, in the bottom of the third inning and the bottom of the fifth as well.
The Angels offense only managed five hits in the game but with the wild pitch by Boston starting pitcher Rick Porcello,(5-10), that Third Baseman David Freese, the Angels scored their first run that held up through out this game. The win for Los Angeles is the 50th of the season and the team is still holding a 1.5 lead over the second place Houston Astros, in the American League West. The loss for Boston is their third straight and the team is still in the American League East’s basement, 7.5 games behind the divisional leaders, the New York Yankees.
The Angels,(50-40) and Red Sox,(42-49), will conclude their three game series tonight at 5pm PST, on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball game of the week. The Angels will send Hector Santiago,(6-4, 2.33 ERA), to the mound, looking for the series sweep. The Red Sox will send Eduardo Rodriguez,(5-2, 3.59 ERA), to the hill, to avoid the series sweep.
