The Los Angeles Angels took on the Texas Rangers this afternoon in a high scoring spring training matchup.
The Angels came out strong pulling in front 2-0, Erick Aybar got on base, followed by Mike Trout. The Angels pitching came out strong as well. Sending the Texas Rangers into the next inning after a quick three and out. The strong pitching by Andrew Heaney followed all the way through the second inning.
Up until the fourth inning the Los Angeles Angels didn’t have much offense. The same can’t be said for the Rangers when they got the ball rolling getting on the board with a sacrifice fly from Elvis Andrus to allow Rougned Odor to score. Making the score 2-1 at the end of the third.
It proceeded to be scoreless for the Angels until the fourth inning when we got a classic Albert Pujols homer who hit it out over the fence in left field. Tallying the Angels score to 3-1.
The game was close as the Rangers clawed their way back. Being down 3-1, the Rangers would continue scoring and tie the game 3-3 in the fifth inning, after two scores from a Adam Rosales homer, and a hit from Odor off a wild pitch by Heaney.
During the same inning the Rangers proceeded to leave their foot on the gas pedal with Andrus, again being a problem for the Angels, with another scoring drive, but this time hitting out the ballpark for a home run. Just like that the score was 4-3 in favor of the Rangers.
The Los Angeles Angels continued the fight and tied the game when Grant Green singled to left, and brought in C.J. Cron for the score.
It was a typical Rangers and Angels game as the division rival’s sought out to get the victory. It stayed very close actually, up until the seventh inning when the Rangers proved to want it just a little more this time than the Angels.
We got multiple scores from Rosales, Ed Lucas, Tommy Field and Andrus through the game. In the end it was too much offense for the Los Angeles Angels to handle as the final score was 15-8.
Most notable scorers for the Angels, Mike Trout who finished 1-4 with a single RBI, Albert Pujols 1-3 with two RBI’s, and Kyle Kubitz 2-2 with a single RBI.
The Angels will continue Spring Training as they play tomorrow afternoon at 1:10 PST, against the Cleveland Indians.
