Recap: Angels 7, Royals 6

Last night the Los Angeles Angels rallied to come back to win a crucial game against the Kansas City Royals. This game was extremely important for the Angels as they were just swept by the Chicago White Sox.
In this match up both starting pitchers weren’t able to win. Angels starter Garrett Richards (11-9, 3.55 ERA, 6.0 IP, 4 K’s, 8 Hits, 3 ER) pitched six innings against Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie (8-7, 5.63 ERA, 6.0 IP, 2 K’s, 2 Hits, 1 ER)
The offense wasn’t lacking in this game as Kansas City took an early 1-0 lead via RBI single from Lorenzo Cain. It wasn’t until the fourth inning until the Angels scored. Angels center fielder Conor Gillaspie hit an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.
In the sixth inning the Royals scored two more runs earning a 3-1 lead. This continued in the seventh inning as Kansas City added two more runs taking a 5-1 lead over Los Angeles.
During the bottom of the eighth inning as the game looked bleak for the Angels, things started to turn around. Mike Trout hit an RBI double as Kole Calhoun scored. Angels DH David Murphy grounded out to second base a Trout scored. Kansas City led 5-3 at the end of the eighth inning.
In the top of the ninth inning is when the game changed. Angels DH C.J. Cron hit the game-tying RBI double as Carlos Perez and David DeJesus scored. Outfielder Kole Calhoun hit another RBI double as two more runs scored giving Los Angeles a 7-5 lead.
When the bottom of the ninth came around Eric Hosmer hit a home run to center field. This was the final run scored as it was 7-6 Angels.
They avoided losing four-straight games and will be in action tonight. At 5:10 PM PT game two will begin, Jered Weaver (4-8, 4.69 ERA) will face Danny Duffy (5-5, 4.69 ERA)
