Recap: Angels 3, Rockies 2

Last night the Los Angeles Angels managed to sweep the Colorado Rockies in this inter-league series. Angels starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker (4-7, 4.80 ERA, 5.2 IP, 2 K’s, 2 ER) (W) won against Rockies starter Chris Rusin (3-3, 4.13 ERA, 6.0 IP, 2 K’s, 2 ER)

This game started off early with Mike Trout hitting a home run to deep left center field. Trout gave the Angels a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. No runs were scored again until the fourth inning.

The Colorado Rockies managed to take a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. Rockies first baseman Ben Paulsen hit an RBI single and catcher Nick Hundley added an RBI single of his own.

This was until the player of the game Mike Trout hit his second home run in the top of the sixth inning. Trout’s home run tied the game at 2-2 and it was an RBI single by Johnny Giavotalla that made the difference in the 3-2 Angels win.
