Last night the Los Angeles Angels took it to the Colorado Rockies. This inter-league match up between these two teams didn’t take long to decide who would ultimately walk away with the win here. The Angels are making a playoff push while the Rockies are most likely looking to just get through the season.

Colorado Rockies starter Chad Bettis (4-4, 4.95 ERA, 2.1 IP, 2 K’s, 10 ER) (L) didn’t last very long on the mound against Angels starter and soon to be ace in my opinion Andrew Heaney (2-0, 1.77 ERA, 7.1 IP, 5 K’s, 2 ER) (W) Heaney only gave up two runs but he did have an early cushion to work with.

The offensive onslaught began in the top of the first inning. Albert Pujols hit a three-run homer to left center field as the Angels took a 3-0 lead. In the top of the second inning Angels left-fielder Matt Joyce hit a home run to center field as the score was 4-0. Johnny Giavotella hit an RBI single during the second inning as it was 5-0 Angels. This didn’t stop as Cole Calhoun got on base. With two on Mike Trout hit the second three-run homer of the day as hit blast to left field put the Angels in front 8-0 by the end of the second inning.

Angels catcher Chris Iannetta scored the last runs for the Angels in the top of the third inning. Ianneta’s two-run homer to center field was the last runs scored for Los Angeles. Colorado answered with a home run from left fielder Drew Stubbs in the bottom of the third and lastly with an RBI single from Troy Tulowitzki in the bottom of the sixth inning. The final here was 10-2 Los Angeles Angels.

Tonight at 5:40 PM PT this two-game inter-league series will conclude. Angels starter Matt Shoemaker (4-7, 4.91 ERA) will face Rockies starter Chris Rusin (3-3, 4.27 ERA) in the series finale in Colorado.
