Rays Shutout Padres 2-0

The Tampa Bay Rays shutout the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 2-0. With the loss San Diego has now lost three of their last four games.

On the home side Chris Archer got the start. He pitched 7.1 innings allowing 4 hits and 0 runs. He walked 1 and struckout 9 as he picked up his 7th win of the year.

For the Padres Christian Friedrich was on the bump. He pitched 6.2 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs. He walked 1 an struck out 5 and was awarded his 9th loss of the campaign.

The offense from this game came from one swing of the bat in the first inning. Brad Miller hit a two run shot that brought in Nick Franklin and Tampa took 2-0 lead.

Alex Colome came on in the 9th inning and picked up his 28th save of the year. San Diego will try and bounce back tonight at Petco Park against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Archie Bradley and Paul Clemens are the projected starters.
