Yesterday afternoon in Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the San Diego Padres lost their second straight game to the Milwaukee Brewers. After winning the first game of this series 13-5, the Padres have struggled these past two games.

Brewers starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann (6-3, 2.26 ERA, 7.0 IP, 8 K’s, 6 Hits, 2 ER) (W) pitched very well against Padres starter Ian Kennedy (6-10, 4.49 ERA, 7.0 IP, 7 K’s, 7 Hits, 4 ER) (L) Both pitchers gave up a run or two but it was the Brewers lineup who showed up from the start of the game.

Padres outfielder and former Dodger Matt Kemp hit a sacrifice fly to right field as short stop Alexi Amarista scored giving San Diego a 1-0 lead. This was until the bottom of the first inning when Brewer’s catcher Jonathan Lucroy hit a two-run homer to left field as Milwaukee went up 2-1.

The offense continued for Milwaukee as Shane Peterson hit a two-run RBI triple. This extended their lead to 4-1 after the first inning. It wasn’t until the seventh inning when runs would continue. In the bottom of the seventh inning Will Venable hit an RBI single to left as Yonder Alonso scored to bring the Padres within two as it was 4-2.

In the bottom of the eighth inning the Brewers scored four more runs to extend their lead to 8-2. Sad Diego scored three more runs late in the top of the ninth but it was too little too late as the final score was 8-5 Milwaukee.

This series concludes shortly as these two teams will be in action. Padres starter Odrisamer Despaigne (5-7, 4.75 ERA) will face Matt Garza (5-12, 5.17 ERA) as San Diego looks to avoid losing this four game series.
