- Updated: October 1, 2019
For the second consecutive week, the Rams were on a national stage. This week, the Rams were playing on Sunday Night Football against the Browns. As Los Angeles fans can recall, the last time they played a game on a Sunday night, they lost to New England in the Super Bowl. As for this past week, the Rams found a way to win once again. With a win against the Browns, the Rams improve to 3-0 on the season. As for the standings, Los Angeles is in first place, tied with the 49ers.
As for the game, the Los Angeles offense continued to struggle. Due to the Rams’ early struggles, they only scored three points in the first half. However, the Rams persevered in the second half with seventeen points. Jared Goff threw for two touchdown passes and over 250 yards. Greg Zuerlein was good given the circumstances. The longest kick of the night from Zuerlein was fifty-three yards. Going forward, the offense will have to step up and relieve some of the pressure from the defense.
Speaking of the defense, they looked good for the third week in a row. The Rams defense held the Browns to thirteen points. Under the coaching of Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips, the defense is one of the best in the league. With the game on the line, late in the fourth quarter, John Johnson picked off Baker Mayfield in the end zone to secure the victory. As a result, the Browns dropped to 1-2 on the season, and Los Angeles are just one of eight teams to remain undefeated.
Following their win against the Browns, the return to Los Angeles to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers are 1-2, and they are coming off of a loss to the New York Giants. In conclusion, the Rams have a chance to do something special. If they can start the season 4-0, that accomplishment would be simply amazing given they also went 4-0 to start the season last year. Luckily the team is healthy for the most part, and should be ready to go for Sunday.
