Rams Tough Loss in Buffalo
- Updated: October 1, 2020
After their second consecutive road game in as many weeks, the Rams fell short of a miraculous win on Sunday. Los Angeles found themselves trailing 28-3 in at the half. Arguably one of the worst starts to a game for the Rams in recent memory. However, Los Angeles managed to take the lead at one point in the fourth quarter 32-28. Unfortunately, the Rams allowed a touchdown to the Bills with less than a minute to play and no timeouts remaining. As a result, Los Angeles fell to 2-1 at the end of the day.
One factor leading into to the rough first half could have been due to the Rams travel schedule. Los Angeles traveled back home after last week’s game against the Eagles. Then, they traveled out east once again. However, no excuses can be made. Coming into this game, the Rams were undefeated in 1 pm start times in East Coast games. On the other hand, the Buffalo Bills coming into this game were 2-0 this season. The Bills also have one of the top defenses in the league.
First off, to start the game, Los Angeles’ first drive ended in disappointment. After getting ton the redzone, they took two sacks, and missed a field goal, walking away with zero points. From there on, it was all Bills. The Bills would go on to score twenty one points while the Los Angeles was only able to muster out a field goal. Even though the defense couldn’t stop Buffalo, there were several opportunities for Los Angeles to put points on the board. Nevertheless, Los Angeles came up empty in those drives.
In contrast to the first half, the second half of the game belonged to Los Angeles. They looked like a completely different team. The defense limited the damage, stopping the Bills more often than not. In the second half, the Bills were held to seven points in the third quarter, and seven points in the fourth quarter. Likewise, the Rams offense kicked it into second gear. In the second half for Los Angeles, they managed to score a combined twenty nine points. At one point, this was good enough to give the Los Angeles the lead. Sadly, on their last drive, on 4th and 9, an extremely questionable pass interference was called on defense, thus giving the Bills a new set of downs. With less than thirty seconds to play, the Bills would go on to score the game winning touchdown.
In conclusion, Los Angeles gave themselves an opportunity to win this game. This loss, comes to a Buffalo team who could very well win the AFC East this year. Even more encouraging is Los Angeles’ schedule going forward. They have already faced two teams who made the playoffs last year. Next week, in Week 4, Los Angeles returns to Sofi Stadium, to face the New York Giants. So far this season, the Giants are 0-3. This will be a great opportunity for Los Angeles to get back to their winning ways before heading East once again.
