- Updated: June 6, 2017
A great night for the Los Angeles Angels and their fans. Albert Pujols provided a dramatic and classical way to enter the 600 home-run club with a fourth-inning, on a 1-2 pitch, high into the left-field stands for a grand slam.
After facing 1,374 pitchers in his 17th season, Twins starter Ervin Santana (L,7-3) will be remembered for number 600 and the 387th pitcher that had surrendered a home run to Pujols.
The Angels beat the first-place Twins 7-2, with two third-inning home runs by Andrelton Simmons and Kole Calhoun helped the Angels to cruise to the victory.
Matt Shoemaker (W,5-3) went 6/1-3 innings to pick up another quality win. Shoemaker allowed five hits and two runs on 103 pitches.
NEXT UP FOR THE ANGELS:
The final game of the series against the Twins will feature a very good pitching matchup. Ricky Nolasco (2-5, 5.07 ERA) will face Jose Berrios (3-1, 2.70 ERA). The Angels (29-30) will for the win and back over the .500 mark.
The Angels are still in second place in the American League West, 12.5 games behind the red-hot Houston Astros.
