The Los Angeles Dodgers take the second game of the series in Philadelphia, with a 4-3 victory over the Phillies.
The Dodgers get on the scoreboard in their first chance at the plate, on a three-run shot, by Yasiel Puig, his 8th of the season, off Phillies starter Aaron Harang,(5-12), that scored Howie Kendrick and Adrian Gonzalez.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Phillies scored on a double by Third Baseman Maikel Franco, which was the only run given up by Dodgers starter Brett Anderson,(6-6), who picked up his sixth win on the season.
In the fifth inning, The Dodgers pushed across their final run, when Adrian Gonzalez grounded out to first, that scored Jimmy Rollins and sent Howie Kendrick to second base.
Philadelphia’s hopes for eight inning comeback was sparked by a two-run homer off of reliever Jim Johnson, by Jeff Francoeur. Johnson managed to get out of the inning but the Phillies hopes died in the bottom of the ninth. Kelly Jansen came in and struck out the side for his 20th save of the season. In this game, the Dodgers has to have a sense of concern, as the team left twelve runners on base but the team will take the 4-3 win in any way possible.
The final game in Philadelphia, this season, the Dodgers will send Zack Grenkie,(10-2, 1-41 ERA), to the hill against the Phillies David Buchanan,(2-5, 6.44 ERA), in an early start on the West Coast, at 10:05 PST.
The win keeps the Dodgers,(61-46), on top of the National League West, 2 full games ahead of the second place San Francisco Giants and with the loss, the Phillies,(42-66), remains in dead last place, 16 full games behind the first place Washington Nationals, in the National League East.
