Puig Lifts Dodgers Over Pirates 6-5 In Extras

Yasiel Puig hit a solo home run in the 12th inning to lift the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-5 in extra innings on Monday night. The Dodger magic continues with another thrilling win.

For Los Angeles Alex Wood got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 5 but allowed 3 home runs in his start and was awarded a no decision for his efforts.

On the the side it was Gerrit Cole who got the start. He pitched 6.1 innings allowing 8 hits and 5 runs. He walked 2 and struck out 7 as he was awarded a no decision for his efforts as well.

The offense got started in the 2nd inning when Jose Osuna hit a solo shot. Sean Rodriguez followed with a solo shot of his own to push the lead to 2-0.

In the third inning Josh Harrison hit a solo shot that gave Pittsburgh a 3-0 lead. It was Corey Seager that hit a RBI single to right that brought in Chase Utley that put Los Angeles on the board.

Curtis Granderson followed with a grand slam that brought in Chris Taylor, Seager, and Justin Turner. Harrison hit a RBI double in the 8th inning that brought in Adam Frazier. Harrison scored later in the inning off a Josh Bell fielder’s choice and tied the score at 5-5.

Puig hit what would be the game winning home run in the 12th inning to give the Dodgers the victory. These clubs will continue the series tonight at 4:05 p.m. PST.

Brock Stewart and Jameson Taillon are the projected starters.
