Portland Shocks The Lakers in Game One, 100-93.
- Updated: August 19, 2020
It happened again, for the second time in NBA history, that both of the top-seeded teams lost the first game of the NBA playoffs. The Milwaukee Bucks was dismantled earlier in the day and the Los Angeles Lakers were shocked by the Portland Trail Blazers in the nightcap, 100-93.
Damian Lillard was lethal last night, hitting an amazing 36-foot three-pointer that basically put the game in the win column for Portland. Lillard led all scorers with 34 points, 9 for 21 from the field, 6 of 13 from 3 point land, and a perfect 10 at the foul line.
Lebron James came out like a fast-moving freight train, racking up his 24th career triple-double. Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 28 points going 12-17 from the field.
A crucial moment happened in the fourth quarter when both Davis and James missed four straight free throws that made a big impact in this game. The Lack Luster Lakers haven’t played well since the return of the NBA which has been a big concern.
The two teams will return tomorrow night as they will wrap up the NBA slate for the day.
