Pittsburgh Pirates Blank Padres 4-0

The Pittsburgh Pirates shutout the San Diego Padres by a score of 4-0 on Thursday afternoon. For San Diego they have now lost three out of the last four games.
Christian Friedrich got the start for the Padres. He pitched 6 innings allowing 9 hits and 4 runs. He walked 2 and struck out 2 as he picked up his 8th loss of the season.
On the other side Jameson Taillon had a strong outing. He pitched 8 innings allowing 3 hits and 0 runs. He walked 2 and struckout 4 and picked up his 3rd win of the year.
The offense got started in the 1st inning when David Freese hit a RBI single that brought in Josh Harrison. This put the Pirates up 1-0.
In the second inning Freese hit a RBI double that pushed Starling Marte across the plate. Gregory Polanco following with a RBI single that pushed the lead to 3-0 after 3.
Harrison hit a RBI single in the 4th inning that brought in Sean Rodriguez. That would be the last of the runs scored. Tony Watson camp on in the 9th inning and picked up his 4th save of the year.
San Diego will travel to New York to take on the Mets tomorrow at 4:10 p.m. PST.
