The Phoenix Suns (2-1) will travel to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers (0-4) tonight in a Pacific Division matchup.

The Lakers are coming off a loss to the Golden State Warriors over the weekend. Click here to read the recap. With the loss the Lakers are off to their worst start in franchise history since moving to Los Angeles. They will need a win tonight to get out of the winless column.

On the other hand, the Phoenix Suns are also coming off a loss as well. They traveled to Utah over the weekend and suffered a 118-91 loss.

The face paced Suns had been notorious for living and dying by the three during the Mike D’antoni days. That three point mentally was part of the game plan versus the Jazz and the strategy did not pay dividends. While the Suns hoisted up 31 three point attempts they only connected on 7 of them.

Tonight’s matchup will be the Lakers and Suns second matchup of the season already. The Suns won the first game fairly easily. To read the recap click here.

The Lakers have a lot of work in order to right the ship. Most of the Lakers new faces have not played particularly well especially Carlos Boozer. Boozer is averaging just 9.8 points and 5.5 rebounds so far this season. If the Lakers want to make any strides Boozer will have to step up.

The Phoenix Suns have some of quickest guards in the league and it will be important for the Lakers to keep such speed out of the paint. The three headed monster of Eric Bledsoe, Goran Dragic, and Isiah Thomas give teams nightmares. Jeff Hornacek had this to say about the trio according to ESPN.com.

“We’ve got a lot of things we can do,” coach Jeff Hornacek told the team’s official website. “If somebody’s not playing well, we’ll give someone else a shot. Sometimes you’ve just got to understand maybe it’s not their night and they play less minutes. Some nights they’re rolling and we play them more.”
