Padres Use Big 5th Inning To Beat Brewers 7-3

The San Diego Padres scored 5 runs in the 5th inning to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-3 on Monday night. With the the win San Diego has won two out of their last three games.

For Milwaukee Jimmy Nelson got the start. He pitched 4 innings allowing 8 hits and 6 runs. He walked 4 and struckout 4 and picked up his 10th loss of the year.

On the other side Jarred Cosart got the start. He allowed 1 hit and walked 6 in 3.1 innings of work. He was awarded a no decision.

Derek Norris got the Padres on the board in the 2nd inning. He grounded on to short and brought in Ryan Schimpf that gave San Diego a 1-0 lead.

Milwaukee answered back with a 2-run home run in the 5th inning to give the lead. Hernan Perez hit the home run that brought in Scooter Gennett.

In the bottom of the 5th inning Alexi Amarista hit a RBI single that brought in Travis Jankowski. Yangervis Solarte followed with a 2-run single that brought in Christian Bethancourt and Wil Myers.

Schimpft added a RBI triple, and Adam Rosales hit a sacrifice to cap off a five run 5th inning. Chris Carter hit a solo shot in the 8th inning to trim the lead to 6-3 for the Brew Crew. Jankowski scored in the bottom half and the Padres held on to win by a score of 7-3.

Today the Brewers and Padres will square off a 7:10 p.m. PST at Petco Park. Zach Davies and Luis Perdomo are the projected starters.
