Padres Sign Erick Aybar To Minor League Deal

According to Denis Lin of the San Diego Union Tribune, the San Diego Padres have signed infielder Erick Aybar to a minor league deal.
Besides Erick Aybar, Padres also have signed catcher Tony Cruz to a minor league deal. More depth behind the plate.

Confirming @JeffPassan‘s report that the Padres have indeed signed Erick Aybar to a Minor League deal. He’ll compete for a spot at short.

Aybar has spent time with Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Atlanta Braves, and Detroit Tigers throughout his career. He has won the Gold Glove award as well as been named to an All-Star team in his career.
Last season with the Tigers Aybar played in 29 games and hit .250. Aybar will compete for a starting job in the infield for San Diego. San Diego will look to finalize their roster as Spring Training approaches.
