Sportsnet reported an interesting stat about the prospect.
At 8th overall by the Padres, Cal Quantrill just became the 2nd highest-drafted Canadian-born player in MLB history (Adam Loewen 4th in ’02)

Quantrill played his college ball at Stanford University. In his lone season being healthy in 2014 he posted a 7-5 record with a 2.68 ERA.
Quantrill’s father was a reliever in the big leagues, Paul Quantrill so he has a strong baseball pedigree. Although he has not pitched in a game in over a year scouts are high on the prospect and expect him to be a rotational pitcher at the big league level some day.
