According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the San Diego Padres have released pitcher Chris Young.
Chris Young has been told he won’t be with the #Padres to start the season. His contract allows him to opt out if he’s not on major league team out of camp. He will do so.
Expect Robbie Erlin or Tyson Ross to start in place of Dinelson Lamet.— Kevin Acee (@sdutKevinAcee) March 26, 2018
Chris Cotillo of SB Nation also reported the news.
Righty Chris Young has asked for and been granted his release by the Padres, source tells SBN. Was likely to make the team before injury to Dinelson Lamet, but was squeezed out due to 40-man issues.
