Padres Rally To Beat Nats 7-3

The San Diego Padres scored six runs in the 8th inning to rally back and beat the Washington Nationals 7-3 on Saturday night.

Colin Rea got the start for San Diego. He pitched 6.1 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 runs. He also walked 2 an struck out 6 as he was awarded a no decision for his efforts.

On the other side Max Scherzer got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 run. He struck out 10 and allowed 1 home run and was also awarded a no decision.

The offense got started in the first inning when Daniel Murphy hit a RBI single that brought in Micheal Taylor and put the Nationals on the board. Wil Myers answered back in the bottom half of the inning with a solo shot to right field to tie the score. For Myers it was his 16th home run of the year.

The game was relatively quiet unto the later innings. In the 7th Anthony Rendon reached on a infield single that brought in Wilson Ramos. Ryan Zimmerman hit a RBI single in the 8th that brought in Taylor and pushed the lead to 3-1.

The rally for the Padres happened in the 8th inning. Myers hit a 2-run double that brought in Alexi Amarista and Alexei Ramirez. Brett Wallace was able to reach on a throwing error and Jon Jay scored.

With the bases loaded Melvin Upton Jr. drew a walk that brought in Myers. Yangervis Solarte hit a 2-run single that brought in Matt Kemp and Brett Wallace and pushed the lead to 7-3 which was too much for the Nats to overcome.

San Diego will conclude their series with the Nationals today at 1:40 p.m. PST
