Padres Overcome Longball To Beat Nats 6-3

The San Diego Padres gave up three solo home runs on Sunday night but were able to Washington Nationals 6-3. With the win the Padres have now won two in a row.
Drew Pomeranz got the start for San Diego. He pitched 6 innings allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. He walked 1 and struckout 7 as he picked up his 6th win of the year.
On the other side Gio Gonzalez got the start. He pitched 5.1 innings allowing 8 hits and 6 runs, 5 earned. He walked 4 and struckout 3 as he picked up his 6th loss of the year.
The offense got started in the first inning when Michael Taylor hit a solo shot for the Nationals. In the bottom half of the inning the Yangervis Solarte hit a RBI single that brought in Wil Myers. This tied the game at 1-1.
Adam Rosales hit a 2-run double in the fourth inning that brought in Melvin Upton Jr. and Derek Norris and gave San Diego a 3-1 lead.
Danny Espinosa hit a solo home in the fifth inning. Taylor hit his second homerun of the night in the inning as well and just like that the scored was tied at 3-3.
San Diego answered back in the bottom of the inning when Norris hit a sacrifice fly. Alexei Ramirez followed with a RBI single later in the inning and the Padres held a 5-3 lead.
In the 6th inning Matt Kemp hit a RBI single that brought Ryan Schimpf to push the San Diego lead to 6-3. Fernando Rodney came on in the 9th inning to shut the club down striking out the side.
San Diego will be off tonight before they take on the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.
