Padres Lose In Baltimore, 7-2

@Padres

The San Diego Padres had their three-game winning streak snapped by the Baltimore Orioles, 7-2.

Ubaldo Jimenez came into this game on very shaky grounds; he hasn’t looked good in his previous two starts for the Orioles. The Padres were coming into this game ready to shock the Orioles again. For the second time, the Friars scored first. San Diego started the scoring, on a one-out single to left by Matt Kemp; that scored Travis Jankowski. Kemp drove in both of the teams runs and provided the only spark to the Friars offense.

Mark Trumbo, who ended a 0-57 home run drought by hitting his 21st homer of the season, and Ryan Flaherty also homered off of Starter Erik Johnson (L,0-3). Johnson hasn’t won since he joined the team after the James Shields trade from the Chicago White Sox.

FRIARS CORNER:

There were some gruesome numbers from this game, which might haunt this team. The first was the number of runners that were left in scoring position, as the team went two for thirteen, and the second was eight runners left on base.

PADRES ON DECK:

The Padres (30-43) will fly out and head west to Cincinnati, for a four-game series with the Reds. The Padres will send Christian Friedrich (3-2, 3.15 ERA) to the mound. He will be opposed by John Lamb (1-4, 4.75 ERA) for the Reds. The team will try to get out of the basement of the National League West, where they are now 16 full games behind the San Francisco Giants.
