Cashner is a former first round pick of the Chicago Cubs in the 2008 MLB Draft. He spent the first two years of his career with the Cubs and has spent the last five with the Padres.
This season Cashner has pitched in 14 games and has posted a 4-7 record with a 5.07 ERA. He has struck out 53 batters and given up 73 hits.
The Rangers are among the teams looking for starting pitching help and with the Padres looking to collect assets Texas may be a landing spot for Cashner.
