Gardenhire is 57 years-old and won the 2010 AL Manager of the Year Award. Gardenhire worked his way up the ranks with the Twins before becoming the manager. He won 6 central division titles with the club but was dismissed last September.
William Ladson of the Washington Nationals reported that Gardenhire has already interviewed with the Padres.
