Padres Impressive In Win Over Braves,7-2

@Padres

The San Diego Padres picked up their 24th win of the season, with a very impressive 7-2 win over the Atlanta Braves.

The Friars got a great pitching performance from Starter Christian Friedrich (W,3-1), who allowed only six hits, two earned runs, striking out seven on one-hundred and eight pitches.

After the Padres even the score in the bottom of the first inning, the team went back to work and took control of the game in the bottom of the third inning. Yangervis Solarte gave the Padres the lead for good, on a three-run blast, over the right field wall that scored Wil Myers and Matt Kemp. The team added two more runs in the fifth inning and concluded the scoring in the eighth, on a double by Derek Norris. Norris also showed off the wheels, by stealing his first base of the season.

FRIARS CORNER:

Christian Friedrich had another quality start, and for the third time that he has taken the mound, the team provided some great run-support for him. In his last three starts, the Padres has scored 10,14 and 7 runs, all wins for the team.

PADRES ON DECK:

The two teams will square off in the second game of this three-game series. Colin Rea (3-2, 4.85 ERA), will be handed the ball for San Diego. His counterpart for this game will be Aaron Blair (0-4, 7.55 ERA). The Padres will try to improve on their record and make it two in a row. The team is currently in the cellar of the National League West, eleven full games behind the current leaders, the San Francisco Giants.
