With the Padres struggling they already trading in their chips on James Shields. They shipped him off to the Chicago White Sox as the rebuild begins.
San Diego was unable to retain Justin Upton last winter and now are looking to collect assets. With that being said Myers is playing some of his baseball as of late. The first basemen is showing signs of his AL rookie of the year campaign has he is already at a career high 15 home runs this season.
Myers is hitting .286 with 40 RBI’s and looks to be maturing as a player as the days go on. But can the Padres build around Myers? Is a Myers a long term piece to the equation or is it better to sell now while he’s playing excellent?
It’s a decision that the Padres and their organization are going to have to figure out sooner rather than later with the trade deadline approaching.
