Padres Conclude Disappointing Home stand

After a nice road trip, the San Diego Padres traveled home for a ten game homestand. This homestand featured games against the Marlins, Phillies, and Nationals respectively. This particular stretch has games should have greatly helped San Diego in the standings, and kickstart the team going forward. Unfortunately, this homestand ended with disappointment, as the Padres finished 4-6.

In the first series against the Marlins, the Padres lost two out of three games. San Diego allowed twenty runs to the Marlins. The Padres pitching staff fell apart after the first game. San Diego gave up nine runs in game two, and in game three. The silver lining to this series is the Marlins went on to easily take a series from the Brewers.

The second series against the Phillies did not fare any better. San Diego won the first game but lost the next two. In the last two games of that series, the Phillies scored sixteen runs. Padres pitchers were hit hard all homestand long, and the series against the Phillies was no exception. San Diego will get a chance at redemption later on this season, and will play the Phillies and Marlins on the road.

In the last series against the Nationals, San Diego managed a split by winning the first two games but losing the next two. However, with the pitching staff the Nationals have, a split is a success. However, as a result of the series ending in a split, the Padres finished the home stand and leaving town at 33-33. Now San Diego will hit the road, starting with a two-game series against the Giants, followed by a three-game series with the Rockies.
