Padres acquire prospect Trevor Seidenberger via trade

@PadresInDepth

Yesterday it was reported that the San Diego Padres acquired another pitcher in a trade. According to Corey Brock, Padres reporter San Diego traded outfield prospect Rymer Liriano for Trevor Seidenberger.

The acquisition of Seidenberger gives the Padres another potential arm to evaluate as spring training is nearing soon. The southpaw through three minor league seasons is (11-5, 4.38 ERA) as well as a WHIP of (1.33) and (122) strikeouts in (129.1) IP.

While the Padres received Seidenberger from the Milwaukee Brewers, in return Milwaukee got outfielder Rymer Liriano. In (121) plate appearances, Liriano holds a batting average of (.220) to go with (1) home run and (6) RBI’s in (38) games played for San Diego last season.

Both prospects will be able to compete for a position come time for spring training. As San Diego continues to make moves happen, the depth of the roster has improved.

It will be very interesting to see how one of the most busiest teams in the off season will come to look by opening day. The addition of Seidenberger to the Padres should help their rotation if he is able to win a spot in the rotation for the 2016 season.

Welcome to club Trevor Seidenberger!
