Padres Acquire Luis Sardinas

According to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com the San Diego Padres have accquired infielder Luis Sardinas from the Seattle Mariners.
The Padres have acqured Luis Sardinas from the Mariners for a player to be named later or cash. He was DFA-ed by Seattle on 8/10.

Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union Tribune provided further details of the news.
A.J. Preller has long had interest in Luis Sardinas. Signed him out of Venezuela for Texas, considered trading for him at least twice.

Sardinas has spent time with the Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Mariners throughout his career. This season he has played in 32 games and is batting .181.
With the Padres season pretty much over San Diego is looking to give young players a chance to see who will be a part of this team going forward. San Diego will take on the Tampa Bay Rays tonight at Tropicana Field.
