Padres acquire Drew Pomeranz From Athletics
- Updated: December 5, 2015
The San Diego Padres have been busy this past off season. Signing Mark McGwire away from the Los Angeles Dodgers to become their bench coach as well as acquiring prospects for their farm system its hard to imagine that they won’t be busy this upcoming winter meetings.
As of two days ago the San Diego Padres sent first baseman Yonder Alonso, and relief pitcher Marc Rzepczynski to the Oakland Athletics. This was in exchange for pitcher Drew Pomeranz and a prospect pitcher in Jose Torres. The story was broken by Padres reporter Corey Brock on their website.
Confirming deal. Alonso, Rzepczynski non-tender candidates. Pomeranz gives the #Padres the LH starter they coveted. https://t.co/kTrDpuLQmd

Pomeranz headlines this trade as he was the main piece here. He has a career record of (14-24) with an ERA of (4.60) It will be intriguing to see if and when Pomeranz will see time in the Padres rotation. This entails that the San Diego Padres are far from finished I believe in making moves this offseason.
