Lucic was acquired by the Kings at the draft last season in a deal that sent Martin Jones to the Boston Bruins along with a draft pick and Colin Miller.
Last season for the Kings Lucic scored 20 goals and totaled 35 assists. Both sides were interested in a contract extension but neither side could agree on a number.
For Lucic he got the money and years he was seeking and the Kings simply didn’t feel comfortable with that type of contract.
Los Angeles has limited funds to work with this summer and will do whatever they can to improve the team.
