Ohtani Amazing Start Gives Angels A 6-1 Win
- Updated: April 9, 2018
The Los Angeles Angels continue their amazing start to the season with their newest superstar Shohel Ohtani, as they beat the Oakland A’s 6-1 for another series win.
The Angels rookie striking out 12 A’s batters in seven innings in his home debut, only allowing a single to Marcus Semien single. Oakland seemed mystified and confused as Othani (2-0) managed to sit down the first 19 batters he faced.
Los Angeles jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning on a double by Albert Pujols that scored Mike Trout for the first run. Kole Calhoun‘s single scored Puljos for the second run of the inning, as the Angels never trailed in this game. Other notable plays were the Trout homer to center, that cleared over 440 feet in the bottom of the third inning and Ryan Schimpf‘s blast to right center in the bottom of the sixth.
HALO NOTES:
The Angels have started the season with the offense in high gear, solid defense, and great pitching. The bullpen early success has been holding runners and not inheriting many difficult situations created by the starters.
With the success of Shohei Ohtani, the baseball critics have been silenced. The baseball world has been watching Ohtani and the Angels closely to see if this was fact or fiction, Ohtani so far is the real deal and has been able to hold back the pressure every time he takes the field. The Halo rookie has been superb and has accomplished a feat that only the great Babe Ruth has done over 99 years ago, winning his first two pitching decisions and belting three homers.
NEXT UP FOR THE ANGELS:
The team will fly to Texas to take on the Rangers in a three-game set. The Angels (7-3) are one-game behind the Houston Astros in the West.
