Upshaw was an elite rim protector at the University of Washington. He averaged 4.5 blocks per game in just 25 minutes a game.
After declaring for the draft early he went undrafted and played on the Lakers summer league team. The Lakers have looked to beef up their rim protection this summer with the additions of Roy Hibbert and now Upshaw.
Upshaw will head to training camp with the team and fight for his spot on the roster. If he doesn’t make the Lakers roster he will spend some time with the Defenders as he continues to improve his game.
