Nick Young On Russell “I can’t be mad forever.”
- Updated: August 16, 2016
Nick Young had a rough year last season, starting and ending with the Lakers trying to trade him. Not to mention the whole D’Angelo Russell Snapchat thing…
The incident put a lot of extra light on the young core of the Lakers. In an interview this weekend, Nick Young confessed he no longer harbors any hate towards Young Russell.
“We’re teammates,” Young told the Southern California News Group. “It’s been so long, so it’s kind of old.
“We’ll be able to work it out. We’ve already been working it out. It is what it is. I can’t be mad forever.”
And how did Swaggy P feel about the Foot Locker commercial with Ben Simmons, D’Angelo Russell, Devin Booker, and Karl-Anthony Townes making light of the situation?
Young reacted by tweeting: “real funny.” More than a month later, it appears Young found some humor in the incident. “I need my commercial now,” Young said, laughing. “I’ll explain what happened to my life.”
Young also discussed his excitement for a new head coach:
“It’s a breath of fresh air for me,” Young said of Walton, who spent the past two seasons as a Golden State Warriors assistant. “Luke is a big-time coach and came from a championship team. I think I have the tools that we can use as a shooter.”
“I left the conversations feeling good. But at the end of the day, I don’t know,” Young said. “We’ll see. I hear so much [about trades]. You don’t know what to believe.”
