Nick Young Hits Game-Winner, Lakers Beat Spurs 112-110

The Los Angeles Lakers won an overtime thriller against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night, 112-110. Nick Young scored 29 points and hit the game-winning three-pointer as the shot clock expired to give the Lakers the win overtime.
The Lakers were coming off their gritty win against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night; they looked to win their 7th game on the season against the defending champions, the San Antonio Spurs.
Out of the gate, the Spurs looked to pull away early with a 10-0 start. Out of the timeout, the Lakers battled to tie the game 25-25 at the end of the first quarter. The Lakers bench, led by Jeremy Lin and Nick Young, scored 33 points in the first half to lead 54-50. Out of the half, the Lakers looked to be in control, leading by as much as 11. The Lakers led by eight late in the 4th quarter, but a series of turnovers powered a 9-0 Spurs run to force overtime.
In overtime, the Lakers were down 111-110 with 30 seconds left, Nick Young hit a deep three-pointer as the shot clock expired to give the Lakers a 112-110 lead, 7.4 seconds left in OT. The Lakers held on for one more Spurs possession to seal the win.
The Lakers shot 46% from the field and an outstanding 50% on 12-24 shooting from beyond the arc. The Lakers bench bolstered the Lakers offense with 61 points, Jeremy Lin with 14 points and 8 assists, Carlos Boozer with 14 points and 13 rebounds and Nick Young with 29 points. Nick Young’s 29 points are both a team-high and a season-high.
Kobe Bryant’s 22 points were not enough to pass Michael Jordan for 3rd on the all-time scoring list, but it was enough to give the Lakers the win on Friday night. Kobe Bryant also dished out nine assists.
Another player made history tonight as Tim Duncan passed Jerry West for 18th on the all-time scoring list, finishing with 19 points and 18 rebounds. Corey Joseph led the Spurs offense late, replacing a struggling Tony Parker, finishing with 16 points.
Kobe Bryant is only NINE POINTS away from surpassing Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring list as the Lakers play the Timberwolves in Minnesota on Sunday night.
