The New Orleans Pelicans will travel to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers Saturday night. For the Clippers they enter tonight’s game in the middle of a 6 game winning streak and look to extend it to 7. Last time out the Clippers handled the Orlando Magic quite easily as they won 114-86.
It will be a battle between two of the best power forwards in the league. Anthony Davis is having a monster season thus far. He is averaging 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game. He will be a handle for Blake Griffin, who is coming off a strong week last week as he won the Western Conference player of the week award.
The Clippers may not be too concerned with Davis’ shot blocking ability. During this 6 game winning streak, the Clippers are shooting 42% from long range. Chris Paul spoke to ESPN.com about the way they have been playing of late.
“We’ve just been moving the ball really well,” said Paul, who had 19 points and 10 assists in 29 minutes Wednesday. “Obviously at times, Blake will iso, or I’ll iso. But other than that, we’ve been playing the right way. And we’ve been building that trust on the defensive end, too. That’s where it starts, because we’re so dangerous in transition.”
It has been a tough stretch for the Pelicans who have lost 5 out of their last 7 games. The Staples Center might be the place for the Pelicans to right the ship. They have lost six of their last seven meetings versus the Clippers in Staples.
