Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register also reported the news.

Thompson is a former 6th round pick of the Boston Bruins back in 2003. He has spent time with the Bruins, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Ducks.
Last season was limited to just 49 regular season games after undergoing shoulder surgery. It seems like Thompson can’t catch a break and the Ducks will be without him until the the trade deadline most likely.
