Mike Montgomery Shuts Out Padres 5-0

Mike Montgomery threw a gem allowing just 1 hit and the San Diego Padres fell to the Seattle Mariners 5-0. This marks two in a row for the Frias Faithful.
For the Padres Ian Kennedy got the start. He pitched 5 innings allowing 5 hits and 4 runs. He did strike out 5 and walked 1 as he picked up his 7th loss of the season.
On the other hand Montgomery was the star tonight. He pitched a complete game allowing just 1 hit while striking out 7. He did walk 4 but picked up his 3rd win of the season.
The offense got started in the 3rd inning when Mike Zunino hit a solo shot to center field. This was 9th home run of the year and gave Seattle a 1-0 lead.
In the 4th inning the Mariners pushed 3 across. Austin Jackson hit a RBI single that brought in Kyle Seager. Brad Miller followed with a 2-run shot to right field, his 7th of the year and the Mariners held a 4-0 lead.
In the 9th inning Nelson Cruz was able to score thanks to a Clint Barmes throwing error and the Mariners held on to win 5-0.
For the Padres Shawn Kelley came on in relief and pitched 2 innings striking out 3. Frank Garces and Marcos Mateo also pitched an inning of relief.
The Mariners and Padres will continue their series tomorrow afternoon at 12:40 p.m. PST.
