Miami Heat Vs. Los Angeles Clippers Start Time, Preview, TV
- Updated: January 11, 2015
The Miami Heat will take on the Los Angeles Clippers today at the Staples Center. While the Clippers have won five out of their last six games they are nowhere near satisfied with their recent successes and they are not convinced their win against the Mavs was a “statement win.”
Doc Rivers told NBA.com the following:
“You only can judge your team and not the other team, and I do think we’re playing much better,” said head coach Doc Rivers.
The Clippers are looking to focus on two things as their wins increase; pace and defense. This is what the team accredit to their new successes as the seasons progresses. Chris Paul said the following:
“We’re pushing it,” said Chris Paul. “Even if the other team scores, we’re pushing the tempo.”
The Clippers were aggressive throughout. Blake Griffin scored 22 points while Chris Paul had 17 points and 13 assists. Jamal Crawford added 19 points, Matt Barnes had 18 points, J.J. Redick 16 points, and DeAndre Jordan had 13 with 15 rebounds.
Today will be an interesting matchup, as although the Clippers have won their last five of six games, for the Heat it is a different story. The Heat have lost five of their last six. The advantage Miami has, though, will be the amount of rest the team has had. They have had two days off whereas the Clippers will be playing back-to-back.
The Miami Heat are coming off of a loss to the Portland Trailblazers and they lost their momentum and fire by the half. They have yet to score 100 points this month.
The Clippers will be able to take advantage of the Heat’s lack of pace, while focusing on the execution of their own. If that happens, the Clips should come out of the game with another win to their streak!
