Mets, Matz, Shut Down Dodgers, 8-0.
- Updated: July 6, 2015
Steven Matz,(2-0), has only two career starts in the Major Leagues, his second victory comes at the expense of our Dodgers, 8-0. Matz looked like Nolan Ryan on the mound in the victory, giving up only two hits and striking out eight Dodgers on one hundred and one pitches.
Mets Second Baseman Wilmer Flores collected four hits and drove in three of Mets eight runs. In this game, the Dodgers offense was ineffective, as the only managed to get three hits and stranding six base runners in the game.
Los Angeles,(46-37), will move on to start a four game series, at home, with the worst team in baseball, the Philadelphia Phillies, (28-56). The Dodgers are still in first place in the National League West, with a nice four game lead over the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers will send Eric Surkamp,(No record), to the mound, he’s making his first start of the season. Philadelphia will send Sean O’Sullivan,(1-6, 5.76 ERA),to the mound, in the first game of the series.
