LeBron James called Grizzlies rookie guard Ja Morant “super special” after he posted a season-high in points, as Memphis upset the Los Angeles Lakers, 105-88.
Morant scored 27 points and dished out 14 assists as the Grizzlies snapped their five-game losing streak. This matchup could be a first-round playoff battle between these two teams.
Memphis was able to hold the duo of LeBron James to 19 points and Anthony Davis to 15 points. The Lakers had no
answer for Dillion Brooks (24 points) and Jonas Valanciunas
(22points and 20 rebounds).
The Lakers had a very bad night from the floor only shooting 40% for the game and no help from the bench, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led the bench scoring with 11 points.
Los Angeles will have a quick turnaround as the team will try to rebound for the loss, which saw their seven-game
winning streak snapped. New Orleans will be the next stop before heading home. The Lakers (46-13) and the Pelicans (26-33), met earlier last Tuesday with the Lakers winning that game by nine points.
