Memorial Day Remembrance
- Updated: May 30, 2016
Today we remember our soldiers who lost their lives serving and protecting our country. Many of us are fortunate to have family members who were able to make it back from the battle field to become veterans. We thank and show the utmost respect for the servicemen and women but today is not for them. Memorial Day is indeed different than Veterans Day. I admit that I’ve made the mistake in the past of mixing the two dates up and I sincerely apologize to all whom I have offended.
In the almost 240 years of our nation, we have lost about 1.2 million people on the battlefield. Those 1.2 million gave their lives to protect and the freedoms of our country. Whether you agree with the wars or not, or the leaders who have sent those soldiers out there, we should all take time today and reflect on the significance of today and just view it as another day off from school or work.
In our country we have a lot of freedoms that other countries aren’t able to enjoy, and a lot of that wouldn’t be possible without the 1.2 million lives lost to do so.
On behalf of the CaliSports News family I thank all of fallen soldiers and families for the sacrifices they made for us. Everyone enjoy the day, grill out with your family!
