Melvin Gordon of the San Diego Chargers has told the media that he is ready to play, and is feeling healthy.
This came after the rookie running back missed practice on Wednesday due to a “minor ankle injury”, although he came back Thursday to participate in a full practice. The injury came from training camp
He is hoping that his name will get called for the Chargers preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals.
ESPN.com reports:
“Yeah, that’s how it’s looking,” Gordon said, when asked if he will play against the Cardinals.
Gordon wants to improve on his six-carry, 11-yard rushing effort against the Dallas Cowboys in the exhibition opener.
“I just want to go out there and be sharp,” Gordon said. “That’s the whole thing about training camp, to go out there and be clean in everything you do.”
Coach Mike McCoy has yet to make a decision on Melvin Gordon apparently. ESPN quotes him saying:
“We’re looking at everybody, every day, and how they’re going to be,” McCoy said. “We’ll talk as a staff tomorrow afternoon after practice about how we’re going to do things. We have a general idea of what we’re going to do. But we’ll have a better idea tomorrow morning, and we’ll see what we want to do come Saturday night.”
