Matt Thornton Placed On DL

According to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com the San Diego Padres have placed pitcher Matt Thornton on the disabled listed.
Erlin on the lineup card, Thornton isn’t. He’s headed to the DL.

Cassavell reported further details.
For Thornton, it’s left Achilles tendinitis. Move is retroactive to 4/4. Erlin’s length could be helpful at Coors Field.

Thornton is a former first round pick of the Seattle Mariners back in the 1998 MLB draft. He spent eight years with the Chicago White Sox, two years with the Washington Nationals, two years with the Seattle Mariners, one year with the New York Yankees, and a season with the Boston Red Sox.
Last year with the Nationals he posted a 2-1 record with a 2.18 ERA. He appeared in 60 games and pitched in 41.1 innings.
