Matt Kemp Has Big Day, Padres Lose 8-6

SAN DIEGO, Ca.- Matt Kemp went 3-4 including a homerun and 4 RBI’s but it wasn’t enough as the San Diego Padres fell to the Texas Rangers 8-6.
For the Padres Andrew Cashner got the start. He pitched 5 innings allowing 8 hits and 4 runs. He also struck out 4 as he picked up the no decision.
On the other side Yovani Gallardo got the start for the Rangers. He pitched 5 innings as well allowing 6 hits and 4 runs. He stuck out 2 and walked 1 and picked up the no decision.
The offense got started early when Prince Fielder hit a 2-run shot to centerfield that brought in Shin-Soo Choo. This gave the Rangers a 2-0 lead.
In the 3rd inning Choo hit a RBI double to center that brought in Delino DeShields and pushed their lead to 3-0.
Kemp got the Padres on the board in the 3 inning with a 2-run double that brought in Yangervis Solarte and Brett Wallace. This trimmed the Rangers lead to 3-2.
It was Kemp again in the 5th inning when he hit a 2-run shot to center that gave the Padres a 4-3 lead.
Elvis Andrus hit a sacrifice fly to center that brought in Adrian Beltre and tied the game at 4-4. Andrus was at it again in the 7th inning with another RBI single. Derrick Norris committed a throwing error that allowed Beltre and Rougned Odor to score and Andrus stole home to give the Rangers a 8-4 lead.
In the 9th inning Jedd Gyorko hit a RBI single to left that cut the lead to 8-5. Austin Hedges followed with a sacrifice fly that brought in Wallace and the Padres fell to the Rangers 8-6.
The Padres and Rangers continue their series tonight at 7:10 p.m. PST.
