Matt Greene Undergoes Surgery Today

According to Jon Rosen of lakingsinsider.com Los Angeles Kings defensemen Matt Greene will undergo surgery today to repair a shoulder injury.
Told by hockey ops that Matt Greene will undergo shoulder surgery this Thursday. He is out indefinitely; will be a long-term recovery.

Rosen reported further news on the situation.
Greene had MRI yesterday, which showed things that had to be fixed. Previously there had been hope that he’d be able to avoid surgery.

Rosen also added.
As of now, Greene hasn’t been placed on LTIR. Told that would be more of a “down the line” consideration.

Greene is a former second round pick of the 2002 NHL draft to the Edmonton Oilers. He spent three years with the Oilers and has spent the last eight with Kings.
Last season Greene played in all 82 games totaling 9 points and averaged almost 16 minutes a night. This season he has played in just three games due to the injury.
