Mark McGwire May Be Padres Next Bench Coach
- Updated: November 21, 2015
According to Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union Tribune, Los Angeles Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire may be the San Diego Padres next bench coach.
Mark McGwire is indeed a candidate for Padres bench coach, as @ScottMillerBbl said. Might even be likely for the job. Story coming.

Scott Miller of Bleacher Report also reported the news.
Bench coach to new #Padres manager Andy Green? Could be … Mark McGwire. Talking stage right now.

McGwire is well-known around baseball for his 70 home run season back in 1998. He did admit to using steroids but none the less is remembered as a power hitter.
McGwire played his best years with the St.Louis Cardinals and joined the Cardinals staff as a hitting coach in 2009. He then joined the Dodgers staff in 2012 in the same role.
The Padres are filling most of their coaching positions now as they prepare to attack free agency. The Padres old hitting coach Dave Roberts is in line to be the Dodgers next manager so there would be a void to fill there.
