Mariners Beat The Angels, 2-1
- Updated: September 15, 2016
The two teams squared off for the final time this season, as the Mariners claim a 2-1 victory. The Angels have now lost eight straight games to the M’s this season.
Mariners All-Stars Kyle Seager and Nelson Cruz did all of the damage. Both players homered and provided all of the run support for starter Hisashi Iwakuma (W,16-11). The Angels started the scoring in the bottom of the third inning on a wild pitch from Iwakuma that scored Angels catcher
Juan Graterol.
Jhoulys Chacin did not factor in the win despite pitching six full innings. His stat line was great, allowing only one run, on the homer by Seager. Jose Valdez (L,1-3), took the loss in relief.
HALO’s DUGOUT:
In this game, the Halos offense sputtered again. 0-7 with runners in scoring position, and six runners left on base. Just one key hit was needed in one of these situations.
ANGELS ON DECK:
The Toronto Blue Jays will fly into Anaheim to face the Halos for a very important four-game series. The Jays are in a very close fight for their playoff lives, in the American League East. Daniel Wright (0-2, 7.50 ERA), will take the ball for the Halos. He will face the Jays ace J.A. Happ (18-4, 3.33 ERA). The Angels (68-82), are now in a tie with the Oakland A’s for fourth place in American League West.
