The Los Angeles Lakers will travel to Portland tonight to take on the Trail Blazers. Tonight will be the first time these two teams have played each other this season, and the Lakers are coming into the game with high spirits.
Last night the Lakers were able to hold off the Indiana Pacers behind Kobe Bryant’s game winning hook shot. Since Bryant took a much deserved rest at the end of December he has came back a much fresher player although he will not be making the trip to Portland for tonight’s game. The Lakers struggled to shoot the ball last night and will need be more crisp on offense if they expect to beat the Blazers potent offense.
The biggest struggle for the Lakers last night was their inability to finish defensive possessions by securing the rebound. They lost the rebound battle against the Pacers by 13 and gave up 16 offensive rebounds in the win. The Blazers come into tonight’s game the number one rebounding team in the league.
The Blazers are coming off a home loss against the Atlanta Hawks. LaMarcus Aldridge had 30 points and 12 rebounds but it wasn’t enough to get the job done. Saturday night’s home loss was just the third on the year for the Blazers as they have done a great job of protecting their home floor thus far.
It will be a tough task for the Lakers but they will look to string together another good effort against one of the NBA best teams.
